Hi, I’m Lachlan Nairn

I’ve been teaching golf for over 25 years, working with everyone from beginners picking up a club for the first time to competitive players chasing championships. In that time, I’ve seen just how personal the game really is—no two players learn or swing the same way.

One thing has become clear: golf instruction can’t be one-size-fits-all. Too often players are pushed into model swings that don’t fit who they are. The PGA Tour is the perfect example—you’ll see players at the very top of the game with swings that look nothing alike, because each one found what fit them. And the moment they abandon what got them there, chasing some idea of perfection, they often fall from the spotlight and spend years trying to find their way back.

That’s what inspired me to create MyAuthenticGolf.com—not as a place about me, but as a home for golfers to learn, share philosophies, and claim ownership of their game. The name is intentional. When you type it in—“my authentic golf”—it’s meant to feel like a declaration: this is mine. My swing. My game. My way of playing. My reasons for loving golf. And I’m here to collaborate with you, to give you the tools, the understanding, and the confidence to build a game that’s truly your own. This page will continue to grow and expand—just like your game—to reflect the ideas, philosophies, and conversations that make golf authentic to each of us.

My Approach

Understand the swing

A good swing doesn’t have to be complicated. I explain things in a way that keeps it simple and practical, so you know what we’re working on and why it matters. There isn’t just one way to swing the club—different swings work for different people. The way you’re built and the way your body moves will influence what fits you best.

For beginners, that means keeping the swing simple and easy to repeat. For advanced players, it may mean digging into more technical details to sharpen consistency and performance. Either way, my role is to help you find a swing that makes sense to you and feels natural to play.

Build Conviction

Conviction comes from knowing your swing works because it’s built around you. It’s not about copying a model swing or chasing positions that look “right” on video. Some of the best players in the world don’t fit the textbook—and that’s the point.

When you understand the why behind your movements and put in the work to make them yours, you build belief that holds up anywhere. Conviction means stepping onto the course with a swing you trust, a game you own, and the freedom to enjoy playing it.

Play the game

Practice has its place—you build habits and learn new feels. But on the course, it’s about playing the game for the reasons you enjoy it. For some, that’s time with friends. For others, it’s fitness, nature, competition, or even business connections. If your mind is always stuck on the swing, you lose sight of why you picked up the game—or what it could become for you.

Once your swing is consistent, that’s when we focus on learning how to play the game—choosing shots, managing the course, and handling pressure with confidence. My goal is to help you trust what you’ve built and enjoy golf for all the reasons it matters to you. That’s when the game becomes more than mechanics—it becomes joy, connection, and your own authentic golf.
